Tianshan Mountain Honey
The Story
A honey born at 2,800 meters.
Further north from the upstream area of the Yellow River in China, between two great deserts, lie the Tianshan Mountains. In these vast highlands — a UNESCO World Natural Heritage region — bees have sustained their honey since long before the rise of mankind.
At an altitude of 2,800 meters, far from any agriculture, grows a wild medicinal flower called Tangshen (Codonopsis), treasured since ancient times as an herb of longevity. It blooms for only about two weeks a year. Shin-ra-bansho honey is made exclusively from the nectar of this flower.

Raw & Ripened
Unheated. Untouched.
Fully ripened.
We harvest only after the bees cap the honeycomb with beeswax — the sign of fully ripened honey, reaching 80 degrees in sugar content. The honey is never heated and nothing is added.
Its diastase (enzyme) activity measures DN 43.5 in the latest third-party analysis — about 5.4 times the international CODEX standard of DN8 (Japan Food Research Laboratories, 2025 harvest).
Historically, honey from the Tianshan Mountains was treasured by nobility in Arabia, Russia and Europe. It is rarely available in Japan or elsewhere.
